What We Do
Adventure! We take you just that little bit out of your comfort zone and into a place where you will connect with nature, your friends and family, and, most importantly, with yourself...
Micro Adventures
Always innovative, Gravity offers a variety of micro-adventures close to our bases in Cape Town and Onseepkans. Coasteering near Boulders, Simons Town – rock jumps, snorkeling, and swimming.
Sea Kayaking and Day cruises in the West Coast National Park. Whitewater Rafting in winter and Tubing in summer on the Palmiet River in the beautiful Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve. From our base on the Orange River, we offer rafting day trips in the desert. Our newest adventure is River SUPping – our stable inflatable paddleboards are a great platform for a day out on the river.
Multiday Wilderness Tours
This is where you unplug from modern-day life and relax. The Orange River Gorge in the Northern Cape trip offers desert rafting at its best whilst the Maluti Meander showcases the mighty Orange nearer its source. The Doring near Clanwilliam delivers a weekend of whitewater action whilst the iconic Zambezi needs no introduction. All trips are run as self-contained expeditions and lead by our professional guides.
Group Adventures
From corporates to schools, we will tailor-make an adventure to suit your needs and budget. A morning on the water, a day on the beach, or perhaps a fully-fledged multi-discipline adventure program or team build, we will make it happen.
Accommodation
Our portfolio includes Indigo Blue Beach House and Baby Blue Beach Cottage, on the beach in Langebaan as well as Baby Blue Too, our cute and cozy houseboat. Further north, Red Rock River Camp offers a tranquil campsite on the banks of the Orange and – coming soon – a self-catering cottage on the water’s edge.
Training
APA, IRF, and NQF accredited training and assessments for paddling guides. Whether you are looking for a gap year, vacation job or a career in adventure, our training courses, and industry-relevant advice will get you started.
Who We Are
Gravity is an extension of our lifestyle and we run it the way we run our lives – with hard work, lots of fun, and an emphasis on the important things in life like kindness, family, friends, and respect.
Andrew Kellett is an avid photographer, graphic designer, and adventure specialist who founded Gravity in 1997. Acknowledged as a leading authority on Swiftwater safety and rescue, he has been involved with training and assessing paddling guides for the International Rafting Federation and the African Paddling Association for many years. His passion is exploratory whitewater kayaking and he has a number of first descent under his belt.
Marie-Louise Kellett has an honor degree in Environmental Science and is particularly interested in nature-based tourism.
Our team of guides is the backbone of our operation and we are honored to work with them. We’ve known many of them for years - they are true professionals and a huge part of Gravity’s success.
